Ways to Engage Students

Students cannot learn by simply sitting in the class and listening to the teacher. Learning has to be fun! It is the teachers responsibility to engage students in learning to get their maximum output. Engaging student in learning can be really challenging, particularly if the teacher is not able to connect with the students. Teacher needs to get students actively involved in the learning, and for this she needs to use different approaches to make the subject matter interesting.

Here I will quote :

“Learning is not a spectator sport. Students do not learn much just sitting in classes listening to teachers, memorizing prepackaged assignments, and spitting out answers. They must talk about what they are learning, write reflectively about it, relate it to past experiences, and apply it to their daily lives. They must make what they learn part of themselves.” (Chickering & Gamson, 1987)

I am sharing an interesting infographic which I came across in Pinterest. It focuses on the ways to engage students in order to make learning effective.
